Tanium Converge 2024 kicked off on November 18th in Orlando, Florida, marking the 9th consecutive year of this premier user and partner conference. The 4-day event was packed with keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and hands-on labs. This year, AHEAD proudly participated as a Platinum Sponsor, with a strong presence that included numerous sales professionals and engineers in attendance. Below, we’ve compiled a recap of the key announcements and highlights from the conference.

Tanium Autonomous Endpoint Management

The top headline from the event was the announcement of Tanium Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM), an innovative platform that leverages cloud-scale architecture to provide real-time data and analysis. It delivers tailored recommendations, assigns confidence scores for actions, automates changes in real time, and improves reliability through phased deployment rings. Best of all, if you already have Tanium, you already have AEM.

The key components of Tanium Autonomous Endpoint Management include:

  • Tanium Guide
    • Proactive alerting and guidance
    • Informed and automated remediations
    • Simplified setup and configuration for modules
  • Adaptive Actions
    • Global data to predict the impact of changes
    • Dynamtic ring-based deployments to automate actions
    • Automation across module workflows
  • Action Oversight
    • Centralized tracking for manual and automated actions
    • Control center to keep ‘humans-in-the-loop’ during automation
    • Simplified troubleshooting

Tanium AEM features pre-built automation capabilities and an AI-assisted, low-code solution for creating custom playbooks and simplifying complex, time-consuming tasks. Vivek Bhandari, Tanium’s VP of Product Marketing, highlighted AEM’s transformative potential and introduced Gartner Senior Director Analyst Tom Cipolla, who posited AEM as the evolution of endpoint management that will address ubiquitous industry needs for speed and efficiency.

Gartner defines AEM as a combination of unified endpoint management, digital employee experience tools, and AI/ML capable of automating patching, configuration, and experience management. By replacing manual processes with intelligent automation, AEM reduces IT overhead, increases compliance, and enables business-focused work.

Tom went on to emphasize AEM’s ability to unify cybersecurity and ITOps teams by ensuring resiliency and improving both experience and security. With automation at its core, AEM transforms endpoint management into a seamless, real-time process, replacing outdated workflows with intelligence-powered solutions.

Looking ahead, AEM will expand its capabilities to include configurations, posture assessments, and real-time reactions, continually advancing endpoint management. With Tanium, organizations are already equipped to embrace this future.

Tanium Cloud Workloads

In addition to the exciting news surrounding AEM, Tanium’s Senior Director of Product Management, Julia Grunewald, took the stage to introduce Tanium Cloud Workloads – a new solution that will enable customers to gain better insight into their containerized environments. Including everything from inventory data to risks and vulnerabilities, Tanium Cloud Workloads provides policy-level control and an OOTB workbench that allows for simple configuration and response. According to Grunewald, the true value of the container support offered via Tanium Cloud Workloads is its ability to seamlessly integrate with any existing Tanium modules that are in use.

Tanium Partnership Evolution

Throughout Converge 2024, there was a significant focus on the growth of Tanium’s partner ecosystem and the value it brings to customers by enhancing the capabilities of the tools they are already leveraging. Among the partnerships discussed, both ServiceNow and Microsoft stood out, with compelling developments that will be top of mind for Tanium users as we enter 2025 and beyond:

Tanium & ServiceNow

  • Tanium and ServiceNow offer 10 co-delivered integrations that enable seamless data exchange, combining Tanium’s real-time endpoint visibility and control with ServiceNow’s powerful workflows. Tanium supplies detailed asset information directly to ServiceNow’s CMDB, allowing organizations to efficiently manage incidents, patch vulnerabilities, and automate remediation actions across their IT environments. This collaboration streamlines processes within a unified platform, enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening overall security posture.

Tanium & Microsoft

  • Tanium streamlines the deployment and management of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), ensuring it is installed, operational, and updated across all devices, including non-Entra ID systems. Its integration with Microsoft Sentinel enhances investigations and remediation using real-time endpoint data, while Entra ID integration supports zero-trust security by managing device compliance at scale. Additionally, Tanium’s integration with Microsoft Security Copilot unlocks powerful use cases by making even complex tasks accessible to all team members through a conversational approach.

AHEAD’s Presence at Converge 2024

With AHEAD serving as a Platinum Sponsor to the event and having the honor of taking home the award for Tanium’s Growth Partner of the Year, it’s safe to say that we made our mark on Converge 2024. We held two separate sessions for attendees – the first of which was a fireside chat between AHEAD’s Adam Janosek and Standard Industries’ Director of IT Operations Steven Zisblatt. In their session, Adam and Steven discussed the transformational potential of Tanium’s XEM platform and explored real-world use cases for maximizing the capabilities and value of Tanium’s offerings.

Next, AHEAD’s Clem Spriggs co-led a Tanium + ServiceNow integration lab, where participants gained a better understanding of Vulnerability Response Framework app integrations and discussed configuration best practices identified through hands-on experience with customer implementations.
